The original did a pretty solid job in capturing the humor and irreverence of the show, which is one of the SpongeBob franchise’s biggest strengths. The story essentially remains unchanged in the game’s new Rehydrated version, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. This seemingly small lapse in judgment leads to big trouble for Bikini Bottom as it suddenly finds itself facing a flood of hostile robots.
Ronco Showtime Rotisserie, this certainly ain’t. Unfortunately for the tiny troublemaker, Plankton forgets to turn on the setting that makes the robot army obey him. This time around, Plankton decides to go heavy metal by building an army of loyal robots to do his bidding. In the original Battle for Bikini Bottom, pint-sized party pooper Plankton decides to chum the waters once again with another one of his dastardly plans to steal the Krabby Patty Secret Formula.
Is the time ripe to tap into some nostalgia and serve up a rehydrated release of this title once more? Looking good, SpongeBob Fast forward to the present and many of the game’s original fans are now in their 20s. Chalk it up to its not-so-secret formula of action and platforming combined with Bikini Bottom hijinks. Since then, the original game has turned into somewhat of a cult classic. That’s almost how much time has passed since the original predecessor of “SpongeBob Square Pants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated” was first released many, many, many years ago.
